Branch??!! That looks like a whole tree. Suing one's neighbors is probably not a good idea if you want to live in peace, but the jerk with the cedar tree is probably liable, as well as being a despicable human being. Glad to see that other neighbors and friends are being helpful.

I know, it DOES look like a whole tree! I guess that's what happens when a 100-foot tree loses a limb. Eeek! Also, the bizarre thing about Oregon law is that if someone's tree branches come/fall into your yard, it's YOUR responsibility to deal with it (unless there's negligence on their part)--which is why this situation is such a tricky one, it's kind of a mix of both nature and nurture. It's weird when legality and ethics don't line up though, I definitely couldn't imagine making the same choices as my neighbor is the situation was reversed. But I am so, so grateful to have friends!

Oh friend, YES. I don't understand where this ego-anxiety comes from and what the deal is, sometimes it feels downright meddling and THAT feels so scary because why is my brain trying to make me feel bad in my relationships?? Also, coincidences abound--the day you sent this message I found your letter you sent me last year, which, true to theme, I've felt GUILTY about not responding to for over a year. Like, what? YOU do a kind, lovely thing for me and my brain's go-to is to say "That person probably thinks you're a jerk for not responding." The sabotage struggle is REAL, and ridiculous.
